Sinharaja Forest Reserve
Situated in Sabaragamuwa bordering Kalutara & Galle districts, Sinharaja is considered a forest reserve with a large bio diversity. It is a rain forest with a large count of indigenous species. Sinharaja is a paradise of endemic species of fauna. Over 50% of endemic species of fauna are living in Sinharaja.
There are about 282 birds are recorded in Sinharaja out of 384 in Sri Lanka which is around 73%. Most of fauna species which are endemic to Sri Lanka can be seen at Sinharaja. Butterflies, fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals are major fauna types. It is the largest Rainforest in Sri Lanka.
